HAMMERTOWNE
HAMMERTOWNE is a traditional bluegrass band from Eastern Kentucky that has carved out a place in today's bluegrass industry by writing and performing high-quality, original yet traditional songs. Their performances have been accurately described as "Aggressive," "High Energy," and "Undiluted."
You won't find much window dressing in HAMMERTOWNE. They play hard driving, straight-down-the-line bluegrass music. When you hear them kick off a tune, you don't have to wonder what kind of music you're listening to.
CHASTON CARROLL
A native of Estill County, Kentucky, Chaston's parents quickly recognized his natural musical talents. He has been playing mandolin since the age of five and has earned a reputation as one of the elite pickers in bluegrass music today. Along with stunning instrumentation, Chaston lends lead and harmony vocals to the band.
DAVID CARROLL
Born in Ashland, Kentucky, David began his bluegrass journey in the 1980s. Prior to helping form Hammertowne in 2012, David was a founding member of New River Line. Besides being an excellent guitar picker and vocalist, he is also a prolific songwriter. While he claims to write out of necessity and has provided Hammertowne with a catalog of new, traditional tunes, many of David's songs have been recorded by some of the top talent in bluegrass. "The Game is Over," "This Old Martin Box," and "This Old Guitar and Me" are just a few credits to his name. While they each received critical acclaim, his first number one, "Hillbilly Heroes," was penned with band mate and friend Scott Tackett in 2016.
BRYAN RUSSELL
Born and raised near Salyersville, Kentucky, Bryan has been picking and singing from an early age. Bluegrass and gospel music run deep in his family roots, and he has played with several local and regional bands. His high blues-ridden vocal is frequently featured and easily distinguishable. Bryan also offers excellent songwriting and composition skills to Hammertowne.
SCOTT TACKETT
Raised near Tom T. Hall's hometown of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Scott formed his own band "Kentucky Sunrise" in 2002. He has also performed with Dave Evans and Riverbend as well as the Bluegrass Strangers. Hammertowne was formed following the wrap of his solo studio project "Looking Back" in 2012. Scott's smooth and effective baritone vocal is a trademark of Hammertowne's signature sound.
DALE THOMAS
Dale Thomas is a dedicated musician who has been absent from the bluegrass scene for the past decade serving in The United States Marine Corps. He will still be familiar to a lot of folks from prior time spent with Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad, The Katie Penn Band, Higher Vision, and The Glen Ritchie Band.
